Blonde Roses released a powerful, moving track called, “Hush Now”.

It’s a song that twists haunting poetry around the bud velvet-lined vocals. The texture of her voice is silky with a ragged edginess that complements the hard rock energy. The intro is nurturing, but we’re gradually thrown down a jagged staircase at the fall of the climax. On first listen, we hear notes of alternative grit sprinkled about, but the song evolves.

As the dust settles at the end, we begin to see Blonde Roses for who they really are – a driven alternative rock band who knows how to make a statement.

The song has a cool structure. It almost seems like a set of jaws slowly opening towards the climax. During the opening passages, the song has a tame mood, but it eventually grows into something wild towards the fall of the outro.  When the teeth snap down, faint vocals and drifting guitars fade to black.

There’s a road unknown

I can’t believe

Everything is twisted

Laying crying from the bloody trees

Off the back, the song slithers forward with lyrics that border the line of sinister; however, the song keeps us entertained. After the band opens up, there is plenty to keep us listening. The verses are dotted with bright piano twinkles. It’s a nice contrast between the dark flavor we get at first listen. This is the perfect track to space out to. Often, songs like this really help us break down the gate and stretch our wings. The alternative rock side is hard, but it’s chill enough for a much-needed zone out session.

Take me home

The longing for going home is such a universal destination for comfort. We’ve all longed for home at some point in life, and everyone has a different idea of what defines it. The band itself create such a vortex of emotion. Part of it has to do with how they connect with their fans. Lead singer Molly Portier says, “Even when things seem really tough, there’s always that light at the end of the tunnel that keeps you going. It’s up to you whether you run to it or stay in place. I want our fans to feel like they aren’t alone in feeling lost at times. I want them to know that it’s going to be ok even if it doesn’t feel like it at the time. That there’s something bigger and better waiting for you if you look hard enough. Life isn’t always going to be easy, but it’s a blessing.”
