LACES is the brainchild of L.A. artist Jessica Vaughn, who’s also a music biz CEO who has placed countless songs in movies and TV. The latest LACES single “American Grime” is a collab with BELLSAINT – and the song is a pop jewel with lyrical depth that’s truly exceptional.

“American Grime” explores the dark side of the American Dream.

“I wanted to take an unflinching look at societal pressures and the perpetual hustle we’ve been conditioned to accept,” says Vaughn. “If it’s all a rigged game, do we stand a chance – or is this just another coin toss? This song captures the dissonance between ambition and the price we pay to achieve it.”

Vaughn grew up in New Jersey and got signed to Geffen Records at the tender age of 18, initially recording under the name Charlotte Sometimes. Her albums were well-received, but it was a turbulent introduction to the music business.

Fortunately, Vaughn had the tenacity and talent to reinvent herself.

She made a splash on Season 2 of The Voice and began writing songs for Hasbro kids’ cartoon shows like Jem & The Holograms and Littlest Pet Shop. Vaughn has also gotten songs placed in prestigious film and streaming projects like the acclaimed series Bridgerton.

Clearly, Vaughn is a master of songcraft. Her recent single “Dreamcatching” has a Stevie Nicks-style charm. And just one spin of “American Grime” is enough to tattoo that song on your cerebellum for life.

Jessica Vaughn is an inspiring role model for women who want to control both their creativity and cash flow in a business that often has more grime than glamour.
