Sometimes in life, we need to be reminded that it’s the small, simple things that really matter. Phoebe Silva delivers this timeless message in her uplifting new folk tune: “Simply Happy Kind.”

Both performed and written by Silva who was born and raised in Southern California, “Simply Happy Kind” is brought together by a blend of her roots in classical music and jazz and her love of storytelling, like many of her other songs.

Over the last five years, Phoebe has earned her reputation as a top-tier violinist and singer-songwriter on the LA indie scene. She formerly performed as a member of the indie Americana rock band, The Sound of Ghosts, and with countless other artists around LA. Additionally, she has recorded violin with over fifty artists, played plenty of stages around LA.

Silva inspires listeners with her simplistic, half-glass-full outlook on life: “Count your blessings and you’ll find you can change your state of mind and live out all your days.”

She’s very aware that “there’s not much we can control in our lives” (she quite literally says so in “Simply Happy Kind”), but her lyrics are a beautiful reminder that we have choices, and that we can take life day by day “choosing our own adventures.”

If we’ve learned anything as a collective in the past pandemic year, it’s that tomorrow is not promised. Silva’s story tells us to make the most of each day, she empowers us to be the authors of our own lives, and she inspires us to create our own happiness.

When listening for the first time, you’ll literally feel the jazzy instrumentals of “Simply Happy Kind” echo as a source of pure joy to Silva’s free-flowing, easy-going vocals.

“Simply Happy Kind” was produced by Silva and Gilbert Louie Ray entirely in his living room, according to Silva on Instagram. Ray plays saxophone, melodica, bass and percussion on the tune, and mixed it as well. Simultaneously, Silva played electric guitar and strings and “crooned her little heart out!”
