It’s really refreshing to hear a song reflecting on a memory without making me miss someone or something from the past. Indie rock band Parlors has delivered a feel-good tune about remembering the good days with someone from their past. It’s unclear whether they’re singing about a lover or just a friend, but I imagine all the adventures they’d gone on together. It’s meant to be a tune to dance to, something fun in the dark winter months. There’s nothing emotionally heavy about it, which is just what I needed.
The opening riff followed by a punchy kick drum had me bopping my head right away. The quick fade in lets you know that this is going to be a track you’ll be singing along to. After just a few listens, I was hooked. The song reminds me of summer nights. I imagine getting a late-night phone call from a friend asking to go out, the type of friend you can’t say no to because you know it’s going to be a good time. Without knowing what’s in store, you hop on the train and make your way to them.

In the pre-chorus, you can feel the energy they felt in the times that they’re describing. Being so
in tune with someone that you don’t even need to make plans, you know you’ll think of
something to do on the way. It’s exciting and carefree.

There is a sense of the person not being around anymore that I can’t quite put my finger on. Did
something happen? Did they drift apart? It’s a nostalgic feeling, but not in a sad way.
“I don’t want a mind eraser
You call late asking for a favor
Time won’t tell but I’ll be patient
Our top times are down on paper”
Clearly, he doesn’t want to forget the fun they’ve had together, but it seems that the other person might’ve. These last lyrics don’t take away from the upbeat vibe of the song but definitely leave me wondering. The song goes out with the same riffs from the beginning and then fades into a slower, more dreary sound. It sounds like it could fade into another song, maybe their next single?
